This coming Saturday morning at 9AM, Historian and Board President Alaina Young will lead a 90 minute tour of the cemetery focusing on the many famous and locally influential people who are interred at Harmony Grove.

The tour includes the local World War II hero and agribusiness-man Chester Locke, television producer Maurice Thompson who worked on the I Love Lucy Show, John Brakeman, the first grave digger at Harmony Grove, and George Hicks Harris, the inventor of the Harris Harvester.

The cost of the tour is $25 per person or $15 for children under 16 years. All proceeds will go toward ongoing cemetery projects.

Clean up Day, Saturday, September 5, 2026

Volunteers arrived on September 5th to clean up general debris and do ground squirrel control, after which all enjoyed hot dogs, chips and beverages.

California ground squirrels cause enormous damage to cemeteries, undermining burials through burrowing. Monuments can be displaced and toppled. Even family plots sealed with cement slabs can be undermined to the point of fracture. The work is ongoing. These squirrels are master burrowers. They show no respect for the dead and sometimes invade the graves themselves. Harmony Grove needs as much help as possible with this effort. If you can help, please fill out the form on the contact page and let us know.
